Fan is making an unusual noise

Your fan sounds different than expected while running? Follow these troubleshooting steps.

1. Check whether the noise is present at all speeds or only one range of speed (e.g., only below 20% or when coming to a stop).
2. Check that the fan is hanging plumb, horizontally level, and free from wobble as it runs.
3. Record a brief video of the noise.
4. Remove AC power while the fan is running. Note whether the noise stops immediately (indicating an electrical source) or continues as the fan slows with inertia (indicating a mechanical source).
5. Record the serial number information found on the gear-reducer nameplate (varies by model/series) and contact Customer Support.
